Thanksgiving is right around the corner and we know some dieters might be shaking in their boots!

Luckily, Jennifer Lopez's nutritionist has some advice that will help you enjoy all that amazing holiday food without feeling all of the horrible guilt! Ha!

Check out 5 tips from celebrity nutritionist Haylie Pomroy for staying healthy throughout the holiday season without missing out on any of the great food!

Keep Metabolism High:

Even if you have a sluggish metabolism, there are things you can do to kick it into gear. Eat lots of fruit between when you wake up and 2 pm because this is when your pancreas is most active. In addition, loading up on active sugars in the morning increases your metabolism. Avoid dieting (yay!) and if you really want to boost your metabolism, try a 5-day cleanse in between Thanksgiving and Christmas. That way, when you do indulge, your body isn’t taking as big a hit.

Plan Ahead For Events:

Pomroy advises her clients to eat a small meal rich in protein and fats before an event. Foods like hardboiled eggs, tuna and avocado, fish or raw almond butter will keep you from feeling ravenous when you arrive. You’ll still be able to indulge in a few treats but won’t accidentally overeat.

Help Your Digestion Along:

Probiotics, or “good gut bugs” as Pomroy calls them, help your body digest food efficiently. After those rich, delicious meals, mix some digestive enzymes with a glass of water. This will help sugars and fatty carbs digest and minimize any bloating, gas (eek!), and even puffy eyes.

Pick Your Desserts Wisely:

According to Pomroy, it’s not just about lower calories; you should choose foods that will help your metabolism. That means, skip the diet sodas and energy drinks. Real stuff is actually better for keeping up your metabolism. Also on the skip list? Hard candies, which have no added substances to slow down sugar intake. And one surprising pick that makes us very happy: cheesecake is actually healthier for you than sorbet.

Indulge in the Good Stuff:

We don’t really need an excuse but we got one anyway. Organic wines and high-end liquor are much easier for our bodies to process and metabolize than the cheap stuff. That’s because any impurities need to process through the liver, working it harder and preventing it from bringing down body fat at the same time. What better excuse than the holidays to reach for the top shelf?
